Psalm 103:1 (GWT)
Praise
the Lord, my soul! Praise his holy name,
all that is within me.
I find it amazing that even King David who was called ‘a man
after God’s own heart’ had to command his soul (or mind) to bless the
Lord. How easy it is to allow the cares
and concerns of the day crowd in and take over that special place meant for you
and the Lord. It is human nature to
worry and to fret over things which we have little or no control. These are the daily burdens which weigh us
down both spiritually and emotionally, and these are the same burdens which the
Lord desires that we offer to Him.
1 Corinthians 15:28 (GWT)
28
But when God puts everything under Christ’s authority, the Son will put himself
under God’s authority, since God had put everything under the Son’s authority.
Then God will be in control of everything.
We can confidently place all of our concerns before the Lord
Jesus so that He can bear our burdens, knowing that He is capable not just to carry
our burdens, but to bring resolution and restoration..
I have personally stated that “God is in the restoration
business,” this I have learned first
hand.
Now about Psalm 103:1
- Barne’s Notes on the Bible
states that “…praise, implies always a strong affection for Him as well as a
sense of gratitude.”
Barne’s continues…
“And all that is within me ... - All my powers and
faculties; all that can be employed in his praise: the heart, the will, the affections, the
emotions. The idea is, that God is worthy of all the praise and adoration which
the entire man can render. Not one of his faculties or powers should be exempt
from the duty and the privilege of praise.”
We really do have the privilege of praising Him. And God has grace enough to put the desire
for praise into our minds and mouths if we would just ask Him.
He is the God of our salvation.
