The Bible at
times can seem confusing because of so many people who were inspired to write
things down who only had only bits and pieces of what God was speaking to them and
not having the whole message.
The best
way to describe all of these different voices who were attempting to reveal
what God was telling them is a mosaic of different elements which attempts to
reveal a pattern of who God is and what His interaction is like with people
throughout the ages.
Many throughout
the millennia have been focused on the detail of the language communicated whether
it be Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic regarding the detail of the revelation God has
given different people. This was enough for an emerging nation of God (Israel)
and what they needed to trust Him.
However,
a serious study of the scriptures might entail
the detail of the language used to communicate God’s truths, or maybe even a better way may be to look at the pattern of the mosaic God has painted throughout
history to see the bigger picture start to emerge.
‘The writer
of Hebrews says that “Throughout our history God has spoken to our ancestors
by his prophets in many different ways,” interpreting this passage in the
Greek language it reads like this “God spoke in different times in different
parts.” That is, He reveals one piece and then another, like pieces of a jigsaw
puzzle, with one piece complementing the other.
When interpreting this passage in the Aramaic it reads a bit differently
“God spoke to our ancestors by all methods and at any price” or “in
every way, shape, and form.” That is, by sample and by example God reveals
his ways progressively building on previous understandings, leading us into
Christ’s fullness.
The passage
goes on to say: “But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us
openly in the language of a Son,” Jesus demonstrated the fullness of God in
human form by becoming our living example of who God is and what He looks like.
We are
living in the “last days” which is the Greek word “e'-skhä-tos”
where we get our English word eschatology.
Eschatology is a major branch of study within Christian theology dealing
with the "last things." Eschatology, is the study of 'end things',
whether the end of an individual life, the end of the age, the end of the world
or the nature of the Kingdom of God. Christian
eschatology is the study concerned with the ultimate destiny of the individual
soul and the entire created order, based primarily upon biblical texts within
the Old and New Testament.
“God now
speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything,”
that Son is Jesus.
The Son is the dazzling radiance of
God’s splendor, the exact expression of God’s true nature—his mirror image!
Hebrews 1:3a (TPT)
That mosaic
I spoke of earlier is now complete with Christ Jesus being the one who
completes the whole picture. Amazingly
enough He was the one who created mankind and the world in the first place,
Christ Jesus was there at the beginning of creation and spoke all things into existence.
Science describes a “glue” or force that
holds atoms together and keeps them from flying apart, this too is part of
created order when creation took place, scripture says that Jesus holds all
things together.
“And He Himself existed before all things,
and in Him, all things consist (cohere, are held together).” Colossians 1:17
(AMPC)
“For
through him, God created the panorama of all things and all time.“ When you look at the mosaic of God that was
revealed throughout time it always reveals Christ Jesus, everything that God
spoke was concerning Him. All things
were created through Him and for Him, He is the appointed Heir of everything.
What makes
this so sweet is knowing that Jesus loves us and does not want any of us to be
lost without a direct relationship with Him.
He has done everything necessary so that we can come to Him and be
restored into right relationship with Him.
All that is required on our part is to acknowledge our need for Him and
receive Jesus as our savior and King which He truly is.
There is no other way, no other philosophy, no other concepts which can restore us to friendship with God than being open to receiving
from Jesus.
Be Blessed;
