“I love You, O Lord, my strength.”
2 The Lord is my [b]rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
And I am saved from my enemies.

How good it is to praise the Lord. Even when ‘we don’t feel like it’ God desires
to fill our mouths and minds with praise for Him if we just ask Him. For again, it is all about Him, not us. We bring nothing to the table for God. He created us to be a vessel, and only He can
fill us up.
1 Chronicles 16:28-29 (NASB)
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
29 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name;
Bring an [a]offering, and come before Him;
Worship the Lord in [b]holy array.

Gill's Exposition of the
Entire Bible States: “I will
call upon the Lord,.... In prayer, for fresh mercies, and further appearances
of himself, and discoveries of his grace and favor, who is worthy to be
praised; for the perfections of his nature, the works of his hands, his
providential goodness, and more especially for his covenant grace and blessings
in Christ.” "in praise, or with an hymn, I pray before the Lord…”
We are told to give God praise, honor and
glory. Not because God has to fulfill
a need of some narcissistic desire on His part.
Not at all. But that we would
come to understand His nature is that of infinite love, and the glory which
surrounds that love He desires to express to us and through us.
So, what do you suppose is God's response to praise?
So, what do you suppose is God's response to praise?
2 Chronicles 7:1-3 (GWT)
When Solomon
finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offerings
and the other sacrifices, and the Lord’s glory filled the temple. The priests couldn’t go into the Lord’s temple because the Lord’s glory had
filled the Lord’s temple. When all the Israelites saw the
fire come down and the Lord’s glory on the temple, they
knelt down with their faces on the pavement. They worshiped and praised the Lord, by saying,
“He is good; his mercy endures forever.”
I am the Lord’s
temple ….I will worship the Lord…. Not out of obligation….but out of desire!
Lord, fill me with your
desire to worship you today!
I will
call upon the Lord
