First and
foremost we are told to sing to God. It
is the first step in connecting with the heart of the Father. There are many times we don’t have much to
sing about, mainly because life hard on us and it is daily beating us down, it becomes a
step of faith to sing to God just to express our heart to Him. Sing our needs, sing our desires, and sing
our hurts to Him as well as our joys.
Secondly, we
are told to focus our singing about His name.
God’s name meets us right where we are at.
When God spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:13-14, Moses asked God “What if the people say, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?
Then God said to Moses, “I am who I am.””
Another way of stating Gods name that stays
in line with the Hebrew rendering is: “I am the becoming one”, or “I will
become what I will become”. God’s name
becomes what we need at our point of need.
God is there to meet us where we are.
It says when
we praise God and as well as praise His name, we are preparing the way for Him
to come to us, it says "He rides through desert" places, how many desert places
have you been in? I for one have been in
many desert places in my Christian life where the dryness of my connection with
God was suffering, and the very act of deciding to praise God and focusing on His
name and Him becoming what I need becomes like water which refreshes and
restores me. It is at those times of
refreshing that I rejoice and take great pleasure in His presence, for He has become my sustenance.
This Psalmist
goes on to say that He is a "Father to the fatherless, and a defender of the
widows, gives the lonely a home, and leads the prisoners out with joy." God becomes all these things to the needy, He also becomes all these things to us, and more. What is
your need today? What can God become for
you to bring you His assurance and comfort and meet you at your point of need?
God is faithful to respond to you if you merely ask Him.
Blessings to
you;
Stephen
